_ Governor and president declared emergency for the state.

_ New Jersey Transit trains and buses to shut down Saturday.

_ Last hurricane to hit the state was remnants of Hurricane Floyd in 1999, which caused major flooding inland.

_ Atlantic City casinos shutting down for only the third time since gambling was legalized 33 years ago.

All the liquor stores in Point Beach are closed so I'm heading inland. This truly is a disaster. But I hear that a neighbor of mine has a stockpile of Yuengling on ice.

I have a Ford Fusion hybrid. It has a built-in 150w inverter. Since the engine will fire up as necessary to recharge the battery, I figure that I can run off of it for quite a while, maybe even days, with a full tank of gas. Enough to run a pump anyway. With the storm weakening, it may prove unecessary.

Don't let this storm fool you....once it leaves the Carolina's they are saying it is going to strengthen a bit more before hitting here.

I'm excited for a hurricane!

For those on barrier islands or low-lying areas, HERE’s a link to the tide tables….you can pick your area of NJ. Again, I think the biggest problems are going to be the flooding and listening to the incessant news reports about our doom.
