Today I upgraded my lights from Sol Blues to Hydra52s, using the AI upgrade kits.
I had 4 Sol Blues over my 180 gallon tank but due to the increase spread of the Hydra52 lenses I only upgraded 3 of the lights. The upgrade process on these is really quite simple:
Remove old light from mounting point
Remove plastic casing from light
Remove lenses and unscrew motherboard and LED pucks
Screw down new LED pucks, attach motherboard
Put on new plastic housing
Sync with Apex AWM (replacing the VDM)
For now I am running them at a lower intensity then the Sol Blues so that things can get used to the new lights. But with a quick test the additional spectrums provided along with different lenses have made my corals and fish look much better with more vivid colors.
