i hope it all turns out well.....happy reefing ....al

Now that some of the pressure and stress is off. Didn't want to interfere with nonsense stuff at the time of need & help.

Don't know why but the first thing that went through my mind for a split second was to change your handle from "sinkingbeach" to "sinkingtank".

Kind of Indian ritualistic type names. :)

Can you tell I'd just watched Dances with Wolves before reading your thread?

mladencovic, I never really gave a thought to putting them above the water line. Had I thought of that I'd probably thought there would be additional noise or salt spray. Any issues with either? I'd assume it's better at not plugging up however. I stick mine with a toothpick every month or so when I'm drinking a martini looking at the tanks and have a pick in hand. :)

Absolutely no noise or splash/salt creep. It is just a very tiny flow under not too much pressure (I have split the return from the pump into two, so it 300-400gal/h per return). If you are diligent enough to check the holes, sure, under the water level is fine. But I am not, and this visual indicator is much safer for me. Once or twice a month a do go and clean them (algae growth), when I see that flow considerably slackens or disappears.
