Ice Cap Halide and Tunze Skimmer (Cherry Hill)

Hello All,

I have an Ice Cap 250 halide system for sale. It is a simple spider reflector and an Ice Cap 250w ballast. The bulb is a radium single ended that was used for one month. Looking to get $100 for the halide.

Also, have a Tunze 9002 for sale, it is in perfect working order. Here is a picture of the skimmate after 3 days. Looking for $85.

Thanks,

Joe

I’m interested in the skimmer if it will fit into a JBJ 28. I’m not familiar, but is it a hang-on-the-back or does it need to go into water? If anyone knows, I’d appreciate comment.

the Tunze 9002 needs to be placed in the water. It's not a HOB. not sure if it will fit a JBJ 28 though...

Is this feasible? The wood square is the approximate dimension of the skimmer body. I should also point out this is not a typical JBJ hood. I now have this behemoth hood over the JBJ and could easily fit the skimmer…..in the tank itself. Now the question is whether this is feasible? Does this little skimmer produce bubbles that will be troublesome in the DT?

The skimmer does not produce any micro bubbles in the tank, it is currently in my display tank. I am selling it because I am trying to fund a sump on a tight budget. I do not know if it will fit in a JBJ.

hey paul you shouldn't have any problems with it...i have the same one in my 29 biocube and fits under the stock hood with the intank skimmer cup...i have mine in the rear return chamber

Thanks Toad for the info. I actually spent some time noodling around the internet and found that JBJ owners needed to cut off the magnet for the Tunze to fit into the “basket” area. That’s the only place it fits. Also note that I do not use the standard stock hood. I’ve build my own canopy to cover both the tank and the rear “sump” area.

The block of wood represents the footprint of the skimmer.

I’m first going to try mounting the skimmer in the corner of the DT and see how I like that. I’m a little reluctant cutting off the magnet and also not using the media baskets. However, if I do end up getting bubbles in the DT or don’t like the look of the box in the corner, I’ll do the modification and put it in the center section.

One more point; I only use one of the return pumps. The stock pumps were replaced by, I believe, an MJ 1200. I can’t run both since the overflow can’t keep up. So that is why I’m considering putting the skimmer in the corner….I’m not using that return pump.

Bump! Will take 80 for the halide!! The bulb or ballast by itself is worth more. The light is fully functioning and will be cleaned upon pickup.
