Hey guys, just stumbled upon my original reef tank from 2012.

I literally read just enough information to get myself a reef tank going. I never checked alk, randomly added calcium,made a homemade protein skimmer, homemade led lights made from automotive lights LOL. This is before my refugium was running...

can’t believe the tank had growth and not Too Many issues.this tank ran until 2015 when I had my LFS check my levels. I ended up adding Alk too fast and it crashed my tank.

2020 I am much more prepared!

Yea it was nice...I had 2 t5 bulbs over that 36 gallon...which is why I went with 6 t5 bulbs over my 90.

Any shot you recall the 2 bulbs you were using? I'd guess Blue+ and Purp+, but I'm on a T5 learning curve atm.
I'm using a 4 bulb combo (still experimenting) over a shallow 30g, am planning to order new lamps soon, and wouldn't mind trying out that 2 bulb combo in one of my channels.

I’m sorry it was a 4 bulb fixture.I just checked an old picture. Was using a cheap odysea 36” light.
Back then it was
Ati Blue plus, purple plus, coral plus, and actinic

I currently use just blue plus and actinic, plus an led strip light for some pop.but I may throw a
Coral plus in there, getting kind of bored of the all blue look.

In that picture I am just on the one channel which was purple plus and coral plus. Later on through the day I would add blue plus and actinic. Then at dusk I would do blue plus and actinic. Then moonlights lights
