I'M BAAAAAACK!

Sorry guys and gals, I have been gone for quite some time. Long story. Suffice it to say that medical issues coupled with immediate family and extended family issues as well as some financial issues plus work had me pretty darn tied up.

I'm hoping to start getting back in a bit.

I still have the 90 running, but it is having all kinds of "murphey's law" malfunctions. One of the ballasts in my light hood went, my skimmer konked out on me (again) and some evil-doer is picking off my fish one at a time. I'll go to bed with a fish happy, healthy and eating, and wake up to it completely gone. No carcus, no bones, no nothing. Whatever this is took out my clam too. He was happy, healthy, very purple one night, and the next morning, the shell was completely cleaned out.

I can't for the life of me find anything in the tank, but so far it has claimed a cleaner shrimp, two peppermint shrimp, my bi-color angel, my clown tank, and my scopas tang. The only thing left is my pair of clowns, my emerald crab, my sally lightfoot crab, my zoas, mushrooms, gsp, and torch coral. Whatever is in there knocked over my accros and smashed them in a million pieces too. I have not witnessed any of this, only the aftermath.

I am borrowing an infrared camera in the next few days to see if I can capture something at night. Should be interesting.

Anyway, hope everyone else is well, and looking forward to getting active on the forums again!

Yo! Welcome back Matt. Sorry to hear you had some set backs. We were wondering what happened to you.

I have your Hydors from the group buy here. Let me know what you want me to do about moving them South for you.

The meeting this month is in your back yard! We can either move your pumps south on Sunday if Francis comes up to dive or we can bring them with us next weekend when we head that way for Rich's meeting.

Good to "see" you around again! I hope you're able to stick around.

Thanks guys and gals. I've waited this long for the hydors, I can wait a little longer. Go ahead and move them south to Rich's. I'm trying to rearrange some scheduling to actually make that meeting. All depends on work schedule. I will keep ya'll informed, but either way, Rich's is nearly on my way home from work anyway. :)

Welcome back! Sounds like you have Alien vs. Predator going on in your tank. Curious to know what is doing all of that.

You and me both! I think the only thing saving the clowns is that they "sleep" at the top of the tank, and whatever it is is digging around under and between the rockwork. The thing is, I can't really take the rockwork out without disassmbling all 120 pounds of it.

My wife says she saw something "scurry" under the front rock that I suspect it is hiding in, and she described it as "too damn fast" to be either of my crabs.

Whatever it is digs itself under the rock (of course, it's a keystone rock holding half the rockwork up) and fills the sand in behind it.

I'm hoping the infrared camera will help me discover what's in there. I would love to have some more fish in there, and more clams, but I won't take the chance until I irradicate the intruding murderer... grrr... wish me luck!

I found a gorilla crab that had been taking out my anthias. Took him out with a kitchen knife. One of the Henkels, no less.

I was leaning towards gorilla crab, but can one of those actually take out and completely desimate that many large fish? My clown tang was about 3" long.

Hey Matt, welcome back as well!

That's a huge crab if it gets to your 3" fish....hmmm let me see, I think I saw one of them in my tank eating my anthias as well.

Here ya go :)
