A week is kind of fast for a cycle to happen. Even if you are using a additive to induce it. Did you transfer over existing live rock, or water column? If not, I'd add some more cycle starter, or a dead shrimp. I wouldn't trust a tank that never showed any readings during the "cycle". A ammonia bloom later, would be quite detrimental, no?

You could add pure ammonia. That way you can add it to like 4ppm and see how quickly it gets eaten up. I used dr Tim's and pure ammonia to cycle my 75. Worked great.

Do not add pure ammonia,

kev-o throw out the api test kits and get salifert ones, I used to use the api reef master then compared them to my saliferts and well they are doo doo platters.

Add a shrimp for a week, let it sit, remove it on a Friday, test on Sunday and see what your levels are at. Don't rush it especially since you just got back!

True. I used to use saliferts... out of all the things, I cheap'd out on the tests, lol. API full kit was $18.

Curious as to why you recommend not adding ammonia.

I think it is safer to use a raw shrimp and let that spike the ammonia and remove it then to let pure ammonia sit in the tank. Just my personal opinion, but it is how I cycled my last few tanks.

Can't wait! Have you seen the newer tanks put out by IM? Like the Sr-120? They really do design some pretty sharp looking tanks :)

yeah, those are really nice too!

Thanks to Will @ AO I now have a pair of ORA Naked Clowns

Next up will be a shrimp/goby pair(I spy @ AO). (I had a shrimp in my last setup that killed my fish, he sucked)
