Instant Ocean Salt Mix

im using IO right now and use Coralife salt. IO in my opinion is great, cheap and works. Cal and Alk levels are lower than the ones directed for reef tanks but I dose anyway so no difference to me.

I used to use io but hated the brown muck that collected at the bottom of the mixing container. Other than that it's salt.. . Maybe that was reef crystals I can't remember. I use corallife now

Yes it does leave some residue but it kind of stick on the glass without affecting clarity of the water. I cleaned the mixing tank once a year so it doesn't really bother me. Mine always tested high on all parameters which has been baffling me. I got mine from trop and I test new box all the time with the same results. I don't plan on changing salt any time soon. It works well for me.

isnt Coralife awesome? honestly, the best salt i've used. if i didnt have 6 boxes of IO, i would definitely be using Coralife right now.

Just what I thought Judeo, I have to dose anyway.....what about trace elements if there's any on Reef Crystals?

I too am an IO user....and dose to keep my alk and calc were I like it. A "50 gallon bag" makes approximately 41 gallons at 1.026. What I like about it is that it is ocean water....same parameters as ocean water....and that is what I want when doing a water change.

Great info Paul, I guess it's time for me to switch from Reef Crystals to Instant Ocean.

Another IO user here. I've used a few other salts and can't say that I've noticed a major difference. At $36 for a box it's hard to pass up. I find it interesting that some people mention that the all tests low. I get around 11 dkh at 35 ppt.

When I started in the hobby I was using IO on my FOWLR and I have no complaints but then I switched to RC when I started with the corals....I'm definitely going back to IO after seeing all you guys use it.

Yeah I love it, and it's super cheap. It mixes clean only thing is it's a little low on mag but I just add 2 squirts to the the mixing container. I can't speak for trace elements but everything is growing.
