Is my skimmer chamber large enough?

So my skimmer is L10.25 x W5.5 x H20.75

I'm designing a 40b with its own skimmer section and the current dimension for that section is L10.5 x W6.5 H8

Will this be enough room for the skimmer to work properly?

Sounds like a tight squeeze but I agree you will be able to fit it in there.

Why the sump is only 8 inches high?

It's going in a baffled section in a 40B.
I'm copying/modifying a racetrack design sump that has 4 sections
- drain/filter sock - left section
- fuge/frag grow out - front section
- skimmer - rear right corner/section
- return section - rear middle section

Is this going to be in a cabinet beneath the tank? If so, you might want to make sure you have enough head room for the height of the skimmer, along with any platform you may have to place it on to meet its optimal operating depth.

The stand will have ~34" of usable internal height.
I'm going to try to rework the layout to give a 1" buffer on all sides of the skimmer
