is this equipment worth buying?

so my one powerhead is shot due to a pos power strip & the heater is working but on its way out so needs to be replaced. so for a powerhead i'm going to get 2 hydor koralia evos 1050 and the heater i'm going to pick up fluval e series 300w (one at first but will eventually buy a second)

my question is will the flow with the evos be sufficient or to much or should they be fine, also if anyone has experience with these brands are they worth the money etc etc

my tank is 55g/20g sump

Koralias i think damn near have a life time warranty. Seriously.. No receipt required. They are a staple of many reefers BAG O' STUFF because they are quick easy to work with parts are readily available from the manufacturer and they don't completely suck on replying to emails. Naturally the heater is a heater. I've seen heaters from titanium to plastic to rubber all break at some point. If your temp swings without a heater are not approaching 70 degrees then I doubt you need one right away. My heater only comes on when the temp in my tank hits 72 Degress. However every water change I inspect it by removing it and having it HEAT my makeup water to make sure its still working.

The pumps should be fine.

One thing to note and I've said this before NUMEROUS TIMES. If your electrical components are UNDER your tank then look into ISOLATING all of them to a WATERTIGHT SEALED container or compartment. I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA why people with Tens of THOUSANDS of dollars worth of corals and fish INSIST on putting their electrical components inside the stand barely a rulers length away from their sump. Where do they think the evaporated water goes from their sump?

I understand that some folks don't have space and such but where your electrical goes should be as important as where skimmer your using, and what your nutrient levels are. Just like those components if your tech fails so does your tank.

All the sockets are under my tank but the sump is around the corner I guess you'd say in my closet so if anything my clothes are getting ruined lol. I made the mistake of putting the tank in my room

I have the fluval E-Series and I just dont care for it, Especially the bright green lcd display showing the temperature. I havent had much experience with any other heaters but most people seem to love the eheims so maybe give that a shot.

just one definitely. & it's probably overkill. the flow on those has been compared to 1.5 or 2 MP40s. In a 4ft tank in the W1 mode on the controller & it dialed in right, you can create a 3 inch wave lol. I'd HIGHLY reccommend that if you're going to get the WP-40 you also order this adjustable AC adapter and use it to control the overall flow of the WP-40. I know it's a ton of pages, but Read this thread on RC if you're actually interested in the WP-40.

edit: mine shipped last week so once it comes in late this week you can come over & take a look at mine on my 90G if you want. The dimensions are bigger but you'll get the jist of it.

If those are truly the beez knees then I'm going to suggest a few friends of mine that are hesitant to buy expensive tunzes to buy one or 2 of those. Those things are simply amazing. Its just a matter of time before Ecotech starts flipping their lid and realizing they have to lower their prices lol (actually a insider told me they already are - so if anyone is about to buy MP40's hold off.)

or you can wait it out on the release of the Jebo WP10, which is comparable to an MP10.

nah they already released the specs on the WP25. they're lower than people expected. msot people are picking up that variable power supply & running it at 12V instead of 24V to get half power for smaller tanks(40-65G range)

here's the stats

it's about half of what an MP10 can do. seems to be for nanos

at about 800 gph, not bad. its still good for supplementing an mp40 if you already have one.

any word on release date? two of those would be awesome for my 40B Frag tank. the MP40 I currently have is overkill for that size.

So what you are saying is that I should order that 90w power supply yyou posted the link to on the first page? I ordered the wp40 last week and just got the shipped email today

I am only on about page 15 on the RC thread

no no news yet, a lot of people were waiting for just this info. Ill wait until it's posted on fish street before I say it's too small/big for what size tank. until then these "official" numbers are garbage imo. but i hope they're wrong

yep, I got one for my 90 & picked up that power supply. the PS is already at my place just waiting on the pump. ill be testing it out to see what kinda waves i can make at what voltages. I scratched the crap out of my iphone lense this weekend so I can't take video when I get it. I have an MP10 and right now the plan is to use that on the back glass so supplement flow so it's not all just one big wave. but we'll see if I actually will use it or not. there's guys in that thread saying that it's a ton of flow on their 150s & 180s so on a 4' 90 im a bit scared haha. there's a video of a guy with a 125 & it on 20v on W1 mode & it splashed out of his tank the waves got so high!

Maybe I will get them and just tune it down with a power supply that way I can use it when I upgrade to a bigger tank. That being said, do you think 1 with a 12v power supply will be sufficient for a 55g

the one I linked says it goes down to 15v but when you receive the actual item it goes down to 12V(this has happened multiple times in the thread so far. it's cheap & works perfectly. most of the thread says not to go below 12V as the controller wont work anymore.

I feel bad we've made your thread about these pumps lol but it's a valid topic for anybody looking for some serious movement for a fraction of an MP40/MP60.
now only time will tell on durability. if this thing lasts past a year, it's 100% worth it. but we'll see

No worries, these could actually save me & a lot of people money if they intend on upgrading fairly soon but still need something for time being. Plus you guys know a lot more than me so I'm always interested to hear what people have to say. I'm def going to hold off on buying anything & wait to see how you like yours. People are always suggesting mp40s but for the average joe or college student like myself I can't drop $400/500 on powerheads so this would be an awesome supplement.
