IT'S ALIVE (CBS)

On May 14 I purchased a Coral Bandit Shrimp and added it to my tank. It immediately made a B-Line to the back of the tank and hid underneath some rocks. I thought he was dead or malnourished on many occasions as I never got to see him. I could only view his antenna's. Well after 4 months he finally decided to come out. He didn't come completely out but he did come out into a cave enough so that he could observe me while I observed him. He looks like he's healthy and in great shape. I'll try and entice him out with some food over the next couple of days. 4 whole months.

Now if only I can get my Royal Gramma to come out to the front I'll be ecstatic!

Shrimp are hiders all you'll ever see are their atennae. Cleaners are a little less shy. You should consider a jaw fish and some brittle stars. Then you play "guess how many critters live in my tank" at your next meeting. LOL

I've got a purple lobster that I added 6 months ago to a smaller tank and last week did some aquascaping to the tank and low and behold he was still there. This is about a 3" or so lobster and I NEVER see him.

I definitely see a lot more of my shrimp, especially at feeding time when they come out of the rocks to partake of the good stuff.

Before anyone corrects me let me correct myself. The name is Coral Banded Shrimp. I guess I glanced at the name and saw it but didn't read it. I have two peppermint shrimps that come out during feeding time and from time to time I see them out at night. I have never saw the CBS out until yesterday and I've had him much longer.

It's funny that you posted this when you did. Just the other day I saw something moving around in my 90g. I was a little freaked out at first and then realized it was my cleaner shrimp. It hadn't come out in so long that I totally forgot about it! ::)

I have a large CBS that only comes out at night when all lights are off. Sometimes it will come out at feeding time. A few times thought it was dead but was just a shed. It sheds 1 or 2 times a month.

Came out again last night a feeding. Still just enough to let me get a good look. It seems like it is the sign of better viewings in the future. I have a friend who has one that is always out and about.
