JBJ 28 Hoods

I have two JBJ 28 hoods for sale….an HQI hood and a Quad CF hood



HQI hood

The HQI is a 150 W HQI with what I believe are two actinic CF bulbs. All bulbs work, but uncertain of the age:

The top of the hood has a slight deformity which I believe is from it overheating….it can be seen in this picture.

All four moonlights work just fine:

And it comes with the little back box:

Quad CF Hood

This hood has the quad bulb which is a 50/50 bulb. Again, uncertain of the age. There is a problem with the moonlights. One does not light at all while the remaining three flicker. Not sure if they are flickering because one is out.

Price is $50 each, or $80 for both. Note I can only find one of the wall warts for the moonlights, so if sold separately, the first to buy gets the wall wart.

Hey Paul, I may be interested in 1 or both. I have a JBJ 24G that has a damaged hood and it's only the PC lighting. I'd like to see if your hoods will snap into the 24g tank, and if so, I'm definitely interested.

George, I’ve heard the 24 and 28 take the same hood. I know they advertise their LED hood as fitting both the 24 and 28. If it helps, here are some dimensions off one of the hoods:

Matt, I'd prefer the one that doesn't have the heat/burn damage. I'm planning on doing an LED retro on it anyway.

Almost forgot about this, but I just went and measured. My lid is basically the same, maybe a 1/16" off on a measurement or two, but I'm sure it will work. Now my only issue is that I also just remembered I lent my 24g nano to Tony and Teri so I'll need to get that back to test it for sure, lol. All I have in my garage is the old (damaged) lid.

I'm definitely interested Paul. How do you want to work this out payment/pickup wise? Our next month's meeting is scheduled to be at HerbieK's house (no date yet) so if you can wait that long that would work for me. I'm not in a rush. I can pay sooner though if you need me to. Let me know.

Herbie’s is OK with me for payment and delivery. I’ll just have to eat soup for the next month! So how do you want to work this as far as both hoods. Are you and Matt getting together on this ($80) and splitting the cost, or do you just want one hood. If each of you want one (and can decide who gets which one), I have no problem charging each $40. Just let me know. Or maybe you buy both for $80 and charge Matt $50 for the one he wants.

Naa, just kidding. I'd be very happy with us paying $40 each. In fact, he can have the power unit for the LEDs too since I won't need it.

No rush Ant. I had plans for a seahorse tank for that one day and it likely won't happen any time soon. I just didn't want to pass up on this hood because they don't make em anymore.

The HQI hood is available. I’ve been told that it not only fits a JBJ 28, but also fits on the 24. If you pick this up at the meeting on Saturday at Elos, $40. What a deal!
