As I see it and for my purposes it will be to add volume and to allow for a place where WC's can be done without disturbing any other portion of the system. Basically just a tank with water. Shut it down, drain it, fill it, open back up.

I c... Thanks. I thought it might have been tied into to the skimmer or something. Thanks for clarifying

jgraz nailed it. It enables me to turn a valve, plug in pump one, plug in pump two, turn the valve back on and boom a 65g water change. No lifting, no carrying.

I am using the blue line pumps, I will check the numbers for you later. We changed them (went down) as the Elos overflow box likes very low flow and it one drain, one return. In fact I still have an extra kicking around. One of the things I got from copps TOTM on RC, was redundancy is always better, so I like having both pumps going.

Also, I just changed the pump under my slop sink. The first one I just bought off the shelf at HD and it failed after about a year. You don't realize all the junk you put down that thing. I had a plumber come in and put in one that is a lot more reliable and has a trap in it as well to help save the pump. I will check the model when I get home, so far the thing is running like a champ.

Also, since you are in early plannign stages, figure out where the RODI unit will go, also helps.

Thanks Mike. Def get me those model numbers. Soon as I get the sink in I'll be doing the rodi next so its ready to fill up the tanks once they are in place.

Those blueline pumps move a lot of water. At my bosses house I have the 100 running a 90g corner and a 110g half round on the second floor of the house from the basement and the pump is throttled back a bit. Another setup is a blueline 70 running a 180 in the basement, carbon reactor, gfo reactor, and bio pellet reactor as well as a 90g on the first floor.

Blue line 70 should be perfect then. The 200 can handle 1400gph, frag tank at 700gph, GAC/GFO reactors, and the 90 can run at 700gph as well but I may tune that down a bit since it's a refugium. Even without elbows and bends I'm lifting about 10ft.

I would say (just from experience with these pumps) it's either going to be the 55 or the 70. If I remember correctly from looking at their system mike and nikki run 55's. Also for plumbing from basement to upstairs I would highly recommend looking into flex PVC. It makes things much easier and eliminates a lot of 90's and 45's

Yeah, go with the super flex PVC for the return pump up to the tank and visa versa. Ethan swears by it and it allowed us not to have many (if any at all) 90s. Another thing to think about is UV, we added one after years of being naysayers, and I think on a system that big, the good outweighs the bad. We have it plumbed to the return line right before it hits the tank.

I had intended to use the flex PVC already. They use the same fittings as the regular PVC right. Biggest downfall is it seem to be hard to find around here. I may have to order it, but if you guys know where to get locally let me know.

The UV is something I am considering. Sunny had turned me on to it also. I'll be looking into it.

Mike don't forget to check that undersink pump for me. Do you guys just dump the saltwater down the drain as well. I was wondering if those pump held up well with the saltwater.

The flex PVC uses the same glue and fittings and rigid PVC. Make a few calls to some pool supply places and you should be able to find it. I know it may be far but I'm almost positive W.W. Adcock in Lakewood has it.

I'll check it out. Lakewood is not to far. I drove an hr today for the frag tank. I can drive 30min for PVC. Lol

You can get flex PVC at any pool store. Lowes even carries some sizes although it can be much cheaper to order it online. Ill try to dig up the name of the place that I ordered it from this summer.

John, if you're looking for a cheap way to put wheels on a brute, I was in Harbor Freight the other day and saw they had some mini "dollies" for like $12 each.

http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-capacity-mini-movers-dolly-60497.html

They looked like they were the perfect size for a Brute to sit on them.

Sorry, I'm a little late to this party, but these sell for 8.99 when they are on sale....and that's every couple weeks. I buy these smaller dollies just for the wheels....and use them on other things to make them mobile. Supposedly hold 1000 pounds.

Heck, at that price I'll pick up a few and throw them in the corner just in case.

The HD in my area carries the Flex Spa hoses.

Mine does too but they are usually either out or only have one size.

Question about the Flex PVC. Is this the same stuff commonly known as SPA Flex? Has kind of a smooth rubbery feel and looks like it was coiled then smoothed out.

There is a few "brands " of the flex PVC and spaflex is one of them.

Little progress today

Got the water lines in place for the utility sink

And I added the sink also.

Still waiting on the pump. But hopefully that will be this weekend.

Sorry for the delay: The under the sink pump is the Liberty Pumps 404 automatic drain pump 1/3hp.

Right now the return pump is a blueline 55 and a 45 is running the manifold. Originally we had a 70 on there, but the Elos overflows are rated for such low flow, we took it off. We still have the 70 btw if you are interested, it was run for about 3 weeks and is fully cleaned and ready to go.
