Joe's Make Do 25 Lagoon

Setting up a 25g Lagoon for now so there is something to play with. Always likes SPS so this will be SPS dominated. We will see how it goes.

The tank itself needs little introduction.
Lighting will be two AI Prime. One came with the tank ordered another one.
Tunze ATO
5.5g TopFin glass tank as ATO reservoir. It fits the stand like a glove. It's a package but it's cheap. So I have a HOB filter if anyone wants it.
Stock return pump. Seems to be adequate, so no rush to upgrade.

I am very big on skimming as I plan to do carbon dosing so Did quite a bit of research on nano skimmers, the bigger names, all seem to have some issues. Very frustrated. Finally found this old school one that is not very popular anymore. Fit in the chamber without mod. Only $27 from Amazon and I happen to have two air pumps that I have saved for no reason for years. Check out the skimmate production in less than two days! I am pretty impressed. No bubbles in the tank either and quiet, which seem to be the common problems of the big name skimmers.

However it is flimsy, not much thicker than a coke bottle. If I can get a year out of it it will be well worth the money and I expect longer.

I use 2 part vinegar, 1 part vodka and 1 part ro water. Have been using the same mixture for a while now.

Joe,
Do you used it cause of high NO3 levels?......what was your ideal NO3 level?...I saw your tank and coloration was really good.
I’m having Coloration problem and my NO3 is at 5 to 7 but I have to clean the glass every 4 to 5 days, PO4 is not high.

Juan, when my stuff was doing well I had close to zero for both nitrate and phosphate. And the short cake was baking under 500 par. The phosphate always got used up first so I see zero nitrate I dose some. I see everything zero I stop dosing for a day. I also skimmed hard.

The second AI prime is here. I must say I am not used to LED lighting without T5 supplementation. SPS all look dark. I will let the corals acclamate and make some adjustments. The controllability is very

nice though with these lights.
