well i didn't spend time in the Maldives like someone else here...but we were over in Hawaii for a week. were on a local beach away from the tourist spot and saw this.

they are about half the size of the molecrabs you might find in Point Pleasant/Sandy Hook.

I can only assume they are baby ghost crabs? not sure really.

Notice the sand that was excavated from the hole

Who is this other person you speak of? ;)

We have something similar all over the beaches from super tiny to the size of my fist. I couldn't get a pic though as they ran away very quickly. No clue what they are other than sand crabs lol
