Kalk and where to buy it?

Hi I was curious as to who here add kalk to their top off water and what type do they use? I was at walmart today looking for Mrs. Wages pickling lime but had no luck. Located in central jersey.

Hmm I don't have any store near me, closest is like 16 miles away. So for 25 bucks you get 6lb which is around 4$ a lb. I was thinking about stopping at TBaquatic and picking up 4lb for 20 bucks which is like 5$ a lb. Any tips or instruction to adding it to your top off? I have an ATO set up right now and my tank uses about 2.5gl a day.

If you search the web you will get specific instructions. You can add vinegar, vodka. 2 tsp per gallon or 3 tsp.

I have a reactor with a 4 gallon holding tank I fill up. I have it all connected to my top off system. Challenge is keeping the kalk stirred to a point where you are not dosing "white" stuff into the tank. Yes you can connect to your ATO.

I just hit the Walmart when I get a chance. The Sayerville store had 2 bags. I bought both of those. They are extras.

Where are you located, I could sell you the 1lb bag for what I paid 3.00.

Hi Rich, thanks for the tips, I'm actually 40 mins north of you in Bridgewater so to far of a trip to make. Curious as to which depart of the Walmart did you find these at? I walkthrough my local walmart's isles but could not find any Mrs.Wage product. I don't have a kalk reactor but read on RC that it's not needed. They said to just stir it when you add kalk to your top off water and it should be good to go.

I add about 2 to 3 heaping tsp. to a 2 gal. jug and shake it up and use it the next day. The only time I'm using my ATO, is if I'm not going to be around, and I just fill a 5 gal. bucket with the solution I'm making from the 2 gal jug. I wasn't able to find Mrs. Wages at any store either, that's why I'm ordering from Ace and going to the store to pick up to get the free shipping. It did take a couple of weeks to get it.

6 pounds would probably last me 5 years. That's a lot of kalk.

Maybe my tank sps don't need much....lol.

Brightwalls Kalk +2 is what I purchased recently from the gb and been using.

I have a PM Kalk reactor that is tied inline with my ATO with dual check valves. Basically the ATO kicks on, fills the reactor with water and then the kalk effluent is deposited into the tank. I don't think my tank needs a lot - so I don't put a lot of kalk (a few heaping teaspoons), even though that reactor could probably hold 2 pounds easy.
