what was up with the pistol shrimp? was he messing up your rock work or covering coral with sand?

Well, he did make a huge mess with the sand. It was more he killed some of my fish. He NEVER paired with a goby(I actually never saw him kill a fish, but I did snip the lip of the first goby I've ever got). I went through about 4 gobys.. he'd also always try to steal the chocolate stars I'd feed my harly's, hah. He was the devil.

Tanks looking great Kevin. Love the new editions! Great job on the pics too.

Thanks!!!

I knew that Pistol Shrimp was bad news the second I saw him!

hahaha

I just picked up a tank bred neon dottyback on a impulse buy. My wife really liked it.. unfortunately, I didn't know they were semi-aggressive. All the posts I'm reading says they kill lots of fish and eat shrimp. He's around 3inches or so.... I put him in anyway to see what happens. He was doing fine at AO with all the other fish.. will knows my tank, so im sure he wouldnt sell me a fish that will be an ***. I acclimated him and put him in the tank.. he's really just hiding.. he's seen my scarlet shrimp & harley's and didn't do anything.. my wrasse def. found him just now and is showing dominance, but not doing anything to him. I suppose time will tell.

My neon dottyback is about as timid as my target mandarin.

She seems like she'll(apparently it's a she so says my wife) be a good fish(*knock on wood*). My wrasse chased her around a bit last night. She was hiding in the rocks pretty well until he went to sleep. She then ventured around the tank & said hello. She seems to have a little section she likes to be in. I'm watching from the camera feed & everyone is calm. It was just worrying me because majority of the posts I've read were BAD. Although, that might of been with a wild caught specimen. I suppose that's why Will said it was "tank bred" when we were chatting.

Yea, mine was an ORA tank bred also. I suppose that does make a difference in their personalities.

It must.

I came home today she's very comfortable with the tank already. Feeding with everyone & everything. Even getting up and personal with the wrasse.. and the wrasse doesnt care anymore.

I really need to update with more pictures...

One of my barnacle blennies seems to be MIA.
My randells goby is also MIA.
I'm assuming they're both dead.

I've been getting a lot of hair algae & cyno. Picked up some big scarlet hermits. Most likely from overfeeding..

I picked up a mated pair of sleeper gobys today. Doing work and sifting my sand..
also, my wife has been eying a longnose hawk fish at AO for the last 2 months. I went ahead and bought him. Read they eat shrimp & can eat corals. He seems to be doing well with all my fish and shrimp.. my blood shrimp tried to clean him, LOL.

I'm done with fish now. have plenty.

Updated list:

Melanarus wrasse
midas blenny
ora black & white clown
extreme snowflake clown
neon dottyback
barnacle blenny
ora spotted mandarin
pair of sleeper gobies
longnose hawk fish
scarlet shrimp
pair of harlequin shrimp
emerald crab

I've been lazy & never really tried to learn my camera.
The chalices are all yours if they do well!

Are you taking pics thru the glass?
if you want to try my tops down box come get it..

I did take pictures through the glass. Thanks for the offer!
As you can see.. your rasta's are growing like crazy

How is the hawk workin out I was thinking about getting one?

He's doing great. He leaves my scarlet & harlequin shrimp alone. He also does not bother any of my corals. Perches in the spot I took the picture in for most of the day. Eats mysis.. doesn't like pellets.
