I think you are going to be much much happier with the 4 bulb. There is not a coral you can't keep with proper placement under a 4 bulb fixture in a 10g tank.

I'm sorry I wasn't here to see this! I wouldn't of spent that much. Oddysea has a 4 bulb fixture that's 20" for 59$, and that's shipping included. It's 4bulb t5 ho with 3 moonlight leds. I have one, and it's been great for over a year. Marine depot should have the oddysea fixtures listed.

Thanks for both replies! I did end up getting the aquaticlife t5ho 4 bulbs...I feel more.confident with this one because of all the reviews and comments. Plus the reflectors on this one are a lot better than the oddysea...plus the aquatic has fans and an easy set timer. I just feel a lot better about this fixture. Also I saw a bunch of mixed reviews on the Oddysea brand itself...a lot of good, but the same amount of bad. I knew that the lights for this nano setup woukd be the most money and considering thia is almost a $300 fixture...I got a really good deal. Heading to trop wednesday...going to see if they have a decent stand. Plan is.to buy the rock and water as well.

Tough to say. Figure your tank full is probably going to weigh roughly 100 pounds. There is no support under the tank which would worry me. The wife had a 20g that collapsed on a bookshelf when she tried to improvise.

Yea and there is a gap between the bottom of the tank in the middle and the wood. When I saw that I wasn't happy. I figured it would be worth it to post it. You are my main contributor and I appreciate it. When I was here years ago there was a lot more people reaching out. Things change I guess. I'm off to trop tomorow morning....ill be posting pics.of what I found. Thanks again!

The standard metal stand for a 10g is pretty cheap and Trop should have it.

i think that stand/computer desk might work. do a stress test to see what happens. if you have something that weighs close to 100lbs then you can put that on there. remember that wood, or most likely particle board, will probably end up getting wet which will compromise its stability and make it sag even more. i got my stand out of the garbage and spent about $50 in wood to make it look nice.

Update....I went to trop today. Got 20lbs of sand, 15g of saltwater, 5g of fresh, a bottle of cycle, a heater, and almost 5lbs of branch rock. Heres the tank now. I have a korilia one in there now...stiill cloudy. Also was it weird that i didnt empty two of the 5g buckets to fill the tank? The sand had alot of water with it so that added to the tank. Thoughts on everything? 20130904_161841-63729830.jpg20130904_161841-63729830.jpg

Sand and rock will displace water obviously. 20 pouns of sand in a 10g tank is going to displace a lot of volume. Let it clear and you can start your cycle and the whole nine.

Wait. What you are dumping in is live bacteria, if there is no food source for it it will die off and can be a waste. Wait until your tank has cleared up and your rock is in with the powerhead running and up to temp. Add the cycle, then within 24 hours add at least a clean up crew or something to add some waste. You can even feed the empty tank or just pick up a fish to start.

The stand looks good. I should hold that tank without any problems. Now for dumping the cycle bottle. I would wait for things to clear up.

Thanks guys. My top contributors!! How long should it take to clear? Still cant see much. Not using a filter or skimmer. Was just going to let the rock and sand handle that.

hmmmm. dont know if i have a spare hob. would a small ac filter work? I wasnt planning on running a filter at all...do u think i should? I thought the sand and rock would be enough? How long should it take to clear?

Looking good! I would say that it should be mostly cleared up by the morning. May take a bit longer with no filter. If you have the aqua clear laying around it can't hurt to run it. As far as not running a filter at all you should be ok if you are diligent with your water changes and feed appropriately. You can always run the aqua clear from time to time with either simple poly filter floss or carbon to "polish" the water.
