Jose...I didn't test that last night. It was late and I was just curious about the ammonia. Thanks so much and for your input redfish. I have absolutely no idea why you consistently have to post such condescending replies. I realize there is still ammonia in the tank. I realize its still cycling. If you are going to continue to post like I'm four years old, please do not say anything. I'm here for advice...not to be talked to like I'm an idiot.

I apologize if my response was misinterpreted. It was meant to be educational in that you either have ammonia or you don’t….albeit said with a bit of flippant humor….that’s my personality.

However, with that said, I do agree that it’s best I say nothing to any of your posts…..I’m done!

Small update: tested the rates n rites tonight. They are both very high and the ammonia is still the same as last night...still there in small form, but with thw rates n rites kicking up, the next time I test which will probably Wednesday I could see it being gone. I'm ready to start seeing 0's in the next 10-14 days. Hoping to def have happy fish by Halloween.

Last few times my SG has been low...aeound 1.021. I've been reading it should be anywhere between 1.023-1.025. I've been using the water from trop and topping off with their RO. Should I maybe top off with salt instead?

Definitely top off with saltwater next time since theirs no inverts or fish. This would be perfect time to do your adjustments.

Have you tested the SG of the water you're getting from trop? I would test every time you get a new batch incase there are any inconsistencies. Might not be a bad idea to buy a small thing of salt so that you can adjust it when necessary. This will be important when you start doing water changes. I keep my SG at 1.025-1.026. You can gradually bring yours up by topping off with salt water until you reach your desired level, then switch back to topping off with rodi water.

Thanks. Yea I would like to use this time to get everything right. I'm going to test ammonia, rites, and rates in a little while. Also the filter media I'm running now...sponge/ carbon...does that need to be changed more sinxe I'm running it on a saltwater tank now?

Mix it in with your top off say you go thorough a gallon a day night before add salt to your RO water that you would use for your top off and next day pour it in your sump

Kschweer...I couldn't add the salt directly to the tank once there is fish/corals right?

No never add salt directly to your tank. I'm saying have the salt around so you can adjust the water from trop if needed before water changes.

Hoping to test again this week to see where I am with the rates. Rites n ammonia were at 0 as you can see in the pic above. Its been a process, but I'd rather take my time than to rush.

put the tunze 6015 in the tank this evening. I was wondering since I have the aqueon in the back on the left side...should I do the same with this one? I currently have it toward the front on the right hand side of the tank. Just curious to see what others did.

Generally, (unless say a pennisula style tank) people like to have pumps on both sides of the tank to get some turbulent flow and to hit areas the other is not. Looks like it is coming along nicely.
