When was the last time you cleaned it? Was anything stuck in the pump? They shut themselves down if something is jamming it.
I keep it pretty clean. I would say I cleaned it about 3 months ago. Didn't notice anything obviously jamming it up. Cleaned it really well and had to spin the impeller to get it started again.

Vortech makes a nice return pump. I'm using a waveline right now, so far so good, only been running for 6 months or so though.
Looking into the vectra. Hoping to hear some people with experience with them.

Don't tell me that. I love my jebao return pump.
Not knocking the pump at all. I have been pretty happy with it all together. I have had it a little over 2.5 years and have only needed to replace a power supply.

May be too strong for your tank, but my Eheim 1262 has been running 24/7 for 5 years straight (with the exception of Sandy and a couple other shorter power outages). They really are tanks.

Just bought a Jaebo dc-6000 for use on another project. Looking forward to playing with it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looking into the eheims too. I just really like the adjustability of the DC pumps.

Sorry to see that Kevin. I recently switched to a Waveline DC6000 that I picked up used from Tommyboy. I still have MAG 9.5's ready to jump in there if and when the Waveline dies. I was actually thinking about picking up a Jebao DC6000 as a backup to the Waveline. Now I'll re-think that. I also wonder if the Jebao DCT pumps are any better?

EDIT TO ADD: And I go look up DC versus DCT and now see they've come out with the DCS? Still wondering??? HERE's the DCS on Ebay.

No experience with the dct or dcs. It really wasn't a bad pump. The power supply went once and now this. For the price I'm happy getting just about 3 years out of it. I really should have gotten 2 and kept one as a back up. How are you liking the waveline?

I find my waveline pump works quite well for the six months i've had it, hasn't stopped working at all, haven't cleaned it yet either, thinking about doing that this week.

I had the same exact problem with my old Jaebo dc pump I cleaned it once and then it wouldn't start after. I would have to stick my finger in and spin the prop till it would start. It wouldn't bother me if i had to do it every now and again but when i feed my fish i shut all the pumps off with my apex. so I was starting this pump with my finger everyday PIA. I switched to the L1 and I love it! I like how it is an impeller. I will say the one thing I absolutely HATE about it is the short cord length for part of it. its either from the controller to the power supply or the power supply to the pump. I forget, but it means for me I have to keep the power bring in my sump right next the ATO, sump, manifold, Kalk reactor... It might as well just be sitting in the water. I would rather have it away from all that.

Think I'm going to give the m1 a try. Hopefully I can find one quickly. Just knowing the current pump isn't running reliably is making me nervous.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Unfortunately over the past few weeks I have been having some issues with the tank. Specifically SPS receding from the tips and some dying. My jack o lantern lepto seems to be doing the same. I have had some of these corals a long time and it's hard to watch. I can't seem to figure out what is wrong and I'm getting pretty frustrated. Parameters all fall in line and have been checked by a friend without telling him what I was getting so the results were not biased in any way. Parameters are as follows:
Alk: 8.3
Cal: 410
Mag: 1300
No3: 10
Po4: .03

The only thing that has changed is my bulbs but I changed them as I always do, 2 bulbs a week over 3 weeks. I'm slowly bringing the alk down incase that's the issue but I'm not sure why it would be. If anyone has any input I would love to hear it.

You could get one of those Triton water test kits to get some more answers. I found a company on eBay that sells the kits that is located in PA and no shipping charge. I got it from them because it got to me quicker than getting it from .
