I go into petco to buy dog food and see this very interesting fish. they were calling it a labott wrasse. had some very unusual color dark blue and deep red stripes running width wise down its body. the guy says he never got one in before as I'm watching him open more bags and just dumping them in their tanks.ahh dont you acclamate? no that would take too long and the boss dosent let me do it. so I figure I better get that fish out now if I want him. 20. bucks, good price but he didnt last the night.
what a shame.

That is petco for you! I once heard a manager give an employee an attitude cause she told a customer they needed a 55 gallon or larger tank for a naso, Instead of just makin a sale. Sad, Very sad

I would bring it back and ask for my money back. If they refuse contact the corporate office and explain the situation. I would tell them what you saw them doing at the store and explain that it is improper procedure. Complain that practices like that are hurting the worlds reefs and if that is the way they do things they should stop selling these animals. :mad:

Yes, curse Petco, I agree. But avoid buying fish that have just been shipped to ANY store, many of them die during the first couple of days from stress, disease, cold, etc. At every store.

I gave corporate a rash of you know what. they said they would look into it.
Today I got a call from the boss at that store. He told me they do acclimate 45-60 min and he never told his employee not to do it also the employee denied telling me that. :mad: basically called me a liar.

I guess the customer isn't always right even when they are. If I were you I would start buying from a reputable shop. Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way.

I hear ya. I rarely buy from them and even that day I just went in for dog food.
I am taking them on to try to change their policies. I told them it's not about the refund anymore. If it makes them take care of these fish better it will be worth it.
