Saw this on a DIY Facebook site. I used 5 inch zinc brackets.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Zinc plated steel will not last as long as hot dipped galvanized or stainless in a salt environment. This would be more of a concern if there is salt spray, such as from popping bubbles. The humidity in the area will be high also, so they may always be moist. Many pieces like these are punched after plating, which exposes the iron at the holes. You may also get lucky.

Thanks wasn't sure if I should get zinc coated or galvanized. Of course when talking to the Home Depot guy about what I was doing, clueless...LOL

Galvanized is usually a thicker coat of zinc coated by placing the steel in a molten zinc bath. You can usually see a grain pattern in the coating. I would look in the building construction connector section as those items are usually hot dipped galvanized or triple zinc plated.
