I am very sorry I just the new Deals and Steals rules. I do not know how to edit my original post so i will just post the location here. Collingswood NJ 08108 (south Jersey).

Can you do a favor and summarize the 2nd setup. I'm just learning yet about LEDs. Can it work on a 48" x 18" tank, that is clear of corals on the outside 6 inches of both ends?

Hi dppitone, I'll try my best to summarize the DIY lights for you. I don't know how much you know so bare with me lol. There are two heat sinks which are the two panels that you can see on the forth picture. There are two heat sinks that have 25 bulbs each on them for a total of 50 bulbs on the two panels. There are 19 blue bulbs and 6 white on each heatsink. Each individual bulb is 3watt Crees. If you research 3watt Cree bulbs you will find that they are very good. There is more to it but this is what I know off of the top of my head and I don't want to give you false information. My dad is not home from work yet but when he is I will tell him to post more info. Also if you want to call the number on the original post anytime after 4 today then he should be back by then and it would probably be a lot easier to explain lol.

Also to answer your 2nd question, I'm really glad you brought that up because I use to have on a 75 gallon which is 48x18x18 and it worked great! I'm not sure how to explain this by writing it but I will try. On the 4th picture the two heat sinks are parallel to each other and up and down like this --> | | but when we had it on the 75 gallon my dad configured it to be longer like this --> - -.

dppitone,
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. Andrew did a really good job of explaining the light set, but he wanted me to touch base with you anyway.
I put the lights together last year. All of the "parts" in the whole setup cost a little over $600, and I did the building. Originally I had the heat sinks connected end-to-end so that they would adequately light the 48" X 18" X 18" 75 gallon tank.
I'll see if I have any pictures of it set up that way. (If you decide to get the lights, I'll rework them to the longer setup.) All of the parts are working, and I can certainly help you with how I did the soldering so you can redo the light sets to the way you want it.
If you want to call me, I can answer any specific questions that you have. I'll be out tomorrow night, but I am usually available after 2pm when my school gets out. Texting me is o.k., also. (856) 854-9352.
Let me know if there is anything else I can explain for you.
Tim (reef dad)

Also have a Kalk reactor for sale. It is a genesis reef reactor that it got when I bought my 144. The guy was using it when I bought the tank but I never used it. I think he had it running for about 6 Months. Selling for $50
