I guess there are way too many factors that can go into this. It also depends on what type of setup you want to do with MH or T5 or a combo and things like that.

Using the pfo calculator, i am coming up with "151 Months of usage before Solaris is less than traditional source".
LED is the future of lighting, wait a year, those lights will be as cheap as calculators became.

I looked into DIY'ing this about 4 months ago. I have all the info I looked up if anyone is interested. It is do-able if you are good with electronics and have some kind of housing, but it didnt really seem cost effective to me at the time. it would have cost about 400-500 for just the LED's and the reflectors as i recall. Again, if anyone wants the info, let me know.
