If they are "controllable," I'll have to let those folks who have done it with controls to answer that one.


I have non-controllable LEDs.......and I also need to tell you I'm overly anal....so I build a Rube Goldberg where I started the lights all the way up at the ceiling. Every week I'd drop the lights a couple inches....you can see the marks on the far end of the "sticks," until I got down to the height of the canopy that would eventually would be put on the tank.

In my research reading, (mostly RC), it seems most people start their lights at around 50% and the adjust accordingly to how the corals react.
 
I started my ReefBreeders light off at 30% blue and 20% white and went up every so often. I max out at 80% right now but I'll probably even go to 100% eventually.
 
Went from t5 to ai vegas never really used the acclimation mode started at %75 three months ago ,at %85 now never had any issues
 
You just have to move slow or you will burn and whiten out your corals problem is it's sometimes too late by the time you notice it
