Less than magical moment under the sea

Today while at petco shopping for cat food I decided to let my son pick out a cheap fish (cause i won't spend a lot on,there fish if I decide to buy any at all) he currently has an obsession with the color white and found an all white hobby of a pretty nice size that he refused to except a answer of lets go to another fish store if we are gonna buy a fish. Reluctantly I purchased the goby but was happy it was less then 15 dollars, bring him, home, and,go threw the process of aclimateing him and then, releasing him into the tank. now to be fair this fish was 4 inches in length maybe 5 and about a little less then the diameter of a sharpie as soon as the fish swam into the water with my son watching excitedly my trigger shot out of the rock work and scarfed this fish from the tail two the gills in,about 3 chomps leaving the fishes OMG face hanging from his mouth helplessly trying to remember the things it held dear in its brief fish life and, trying to figure out what the he'll just happened... My son screaming in tears shouting at the tank for the trigger to stop eating his new friend and my mouth a gape as even though I was aware of triggers and there eating habits I have never seen this trigger do anything remotely like this ..

Be for I get the bad fish owner talk.. I have other gobbies all the same size never once has the trigger gone after them and the temperment of my fish is evenly balanced .. But damn! Is all I can say

probably thought it was feeding time and mistaken the goby as flake/frozen food and just went for it. I mean the general rule usually is if another fish can fit into another fish's mouth, it could be treated as food.

Hahaha I did it once with a bunch of white clouds that I had in an outside tub...dumped them in my planted tank without thinking. I had a pair of festivums (6-8 inches in size) that were usually docile and didn't bother other fish.
10 seconds later the white clouds were mostly gone and I just slapped my head.

Ya well this Definitly raises the question on other fish additions the trigger isn't a very big one either. He is also my least favorite fish in the tank he was originally not staying with us for a long period of time but with the tank upgrade he has plenty of room to grow so he bought him self some years

Picasso and Clown are the 2 most aggressive triggers and should be in a predatory tank only. I had a clown trigger in 180G FOWLER and it killed 6 fish over night. Emperor angle, Scribbled Angel, Pyramid butterflies and a tang. He was only 4 inches and all fish were bigger than him.

Lesson learned, leave the ba$tard in the wild.

My pink tail trigger did the same. I learned this point. Fish with those type of teeth are not reef safe !!!!
