Lesson Learned – Keep the Tank Covered

So the dumbass had the screen top off the tank yesterday while doing some tank maintenance and, at the same time, trying to watch the final four games. While sitting in the living room, I hear this banging noise, and at first though it was a noise coming from the dishwasher that was running. After about a minute I went to investigate, and when I entered the fish room I could hear flopping….oh crap. And of course, the fish has to jump out the back of the tank, between the wall and the tank, about three feet from reaching him.

The blue throat trigger had jumped. My wife and I started to scramble to find something to reach the fish and get him back into the tank. I went for a piece of wood that was too difficult to move the fish into reach. My wife eventually showed up with a fluffy duster on a long pole. I was able to nudge the fish into reach using the fluffy duster.

This all took about five minutes, and the fish immediately went to the bottom of the tank, upside down. It stayed that way for a few minutes, and then darted into the rocks not to be seen that night. I was not happy!

I was out all day today and recently got home to find the trigger swimming about. The right side of the fish shows some slight signs of injury, but otherwise he seems happy.

That screen top is now staying on at all times unless I’m in the room working on the tank!

My fuzzy dwarf lion did that a few weeks ago at midnight. Ever try to get a venomous fish from behind the tank half asleep? What a joy that was.

I will take full credit here because as first you were not even going to put the screen top on the tank when you were doing the canopy rebuild. Once I saw you took the screen top off and were not paying attention I snuck and took my shirt off which just scared the fish right out of the tank. Lesson learned.

Well, it's good news that he's out and about today with just a minor scrape from some Neanderthal jabbing at him with a piece of wood. You can't blame him though, he did think a bear was after him!

Lets not forget Bigfoot.

So what Mike was at my house…Mike the Neanderthal, Mike the Yeti, or Mike the BigFoot? This is more difficult then Sunny’s aggressive tang post because if you’ve seen Mike without his shirt, it could be any one of these three  :

All in fun…..at Mike’s expense.

It will be a mystery as the site of all three is very elusive. Usually happens when large amounts of hard liquor are consumed (generally by all) then no one can remember if it actually happened and all the photos are just a bit too out of focus.
