LFS Aqua Oceans, Toms River NJ ... Any experience with them?

Hi! (first post by the way).

I just got into SW after years of keeping FW. I'm in Brick, so my favorite LFS is Tropiquarium.

However there is a place, Aqua Oceans on RT9 in Toms River that I haven't been to since I was a kid. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with them?

Any other recommended SW LFS's in my area? (Northern Ocean \ Southern Monmouth)

TIA!

Aqua Oceans always has good prices when they have things in stock. Follow their website which has a calender of shipments. Trop is great and so is Reef 2 reptiles which is across the street.

Welcome to the club (and to the SW realm) Junior!

I've been to Tropiquarium before and that is a fantastic LFS! I can't comment on Aqua Oceans because I've never been there.

There is also Reef to Reptiles, which is close to Trop and is a popular choice among other members up North/Central NJ.

If you head out west on I-195, you can find Allquatics in Hamilton/Trenton area, and then there's The Hidden Reef if you want to venture all the way over to Levittown, PA.

Hope that helps. Be sure to start a "Tale of the Tank" thread in those forums too so we can follow along in your new adventure. ;)

I've been going there for years. Can't remember having a problem with any fish I got there.

Yep, Steve was a cool guy! That store definitely has some mojo going on! 8)

I didn't pick up anything major. My tank just finished cycling, so I was looking for small stuff.

I got 2 spotted feather dusters, 3 peppermint shrimp.

(Please ignore the pirate ship, the little woman demanded it ...)

Tale of the Tank post coming soon ...

Welcome to njrc!

Feather dusters are filter feeders. In a new tank without much in the way of plankton, they might need to be fed. Keep a close eye on them. You might want to try phytofeast or oysterfeaat (both reef nutrition products). You can get both from Trop. I use a small amount every other day for my Christmas tree worms (they are also filter feeding worms).
Good luck with the new tank!

Those are some nice looking feather dusters. But I agree with Nikki. You may have to feed them until your tank is more established. In fact, you may need to feed the shrimp too.

Oh, and we'll pretend we didn't see the sunken ship. ;)

+1 on feeding the shrimp.

As far as the ship goes, I has a "no fishing" sign in my tank for years :)
