LFS question

as a newbie i have many questions. what is the policy of lfs as far as taking fish you have that you no longer want? Will any of them give you any sort of credit? The reason I ask is I bought a sytem with fish and at this time I have a large black and white snapper that i dont want in my tank anymore as its to large. I have a 72 bowfront and this fish is like 9-10 inches . If the policy is not to give anything i may offer it here to a member who has a large tank.

i had the same thing they gave me half of what it would cost in the store. i didn't want it so it was a deal to me! reef encounter. mine showed no signs of any health problems and they were nice and clean.

Ok because the one store i deal with which i like said they would give no credit. I find that strange because if they take from me and put in a tank with a price why would i get nothing? I understand if it was sick or died but this is perfectly healthy.

Ive dealt alot with ocean gallery in Plainfield and they've never given me that problem, as long as the fish was purchased there. I never got full retail back but I got some type of credit towards something else. You may want to ask individual stores though because each store does have a diff policy on that.

It depends on the LFS, but most give you some type of store credit, so id call around and see who will gice you the most credit.

I found that you need to have a good relationship with the store before they will give you credit. Usually, calling one out the blue will state no credit. They will take it and sell for a profit though. I would list it here for sale or free before giving to a LFS that won't give credit. Heck, even a flat of frozen food for $5 would be better than nothing.
