LFS you shop at

OK. Did you notice if they had any file fish?
they had a really nice filefish my wife is trying to make me buy LOL but its not the small aiptasia eating filefish. i took one of those last time i was there. she would be more than happy if i sold it to you

the one they have is the tassle and its like 150, but its still in QT. that one grows to 1' and needs a 180g tank where the one i have only needs 30g

want me to ask if she will sell it? i never put it in my tank, its been in a holding tank since i got it

i bought a tomato clown in qt. say hello to my fish lol

he has some very nice chromis, but kind of steep at $12, he had a lot of powder blue and powder browns, he had more longnose butterflys, he has a foxface, a rabbitfish, all his sailfins are in qt, he has a copperband in qt, i think he had hippos, oh had a beautiful butterfly for like 140 forgot what it was called. he has a lot of gem tangs, he has those $12k angelfish. he had lots of tomini, he had an achilles tang, he has a lot there definitely more than what im naming

Hey thanks for the offer Mickey I may take you up on it if your wife is willing to part with it. The small aptasia eating one is what I’m looking for. I bought a coral frag recently and now I’m having a mini aptasia outbreak. I’m heading there now I’ll let you know how I make out.

@diana a thanks for the heads up. I’m going to check out tsm today, I like that they have the 30 day quarantine since I don’t have a qt set up.

Ill see if she'll part with the file if that six line doesn't work for you. maybe even loan lol. idk if this one will do it either. I have some ball amenomes I am hoping he will feast on.

Sea Level Aquatics is expanding into the shop next door, should be doubling in size. Construction to start soon, couple of changes already started. Very exciting. Glad to a LFS flourishing.

Clifton Petco has Juan, the aquatic specialist. Good dude, stocks some cool stuff. Usually have an Achilles tang in their frag system.

They had a zombie clownfish when I last visited, not your usual Petco stock, picture of their frag system too.

There are 2 LFS in Flemington.

First Choice Aquatics opened a few months ago. They got some nice tanks setup including a pretty cool shark tank. The shark tank keeps the kids occupied, while I take my sweet time browsing the frag tank. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the additional frag tank they are setting up.

Fish & Pet Plus next to the Dutch Market in town has some pretty good deals. They don’t have the fancy lightings, but you can sure find some hidden gems.

Reefco is a little further away, but they have the cleanest tanks and the most coral variety.

Thanks. Didn't know we had another option in Flemington. I'll have to check the new place out.

I like the aquarium center in clementon, I only have two complaints. 1. They never respond to any email inquiries and 2. Their coral take’s lighting make it impossible to know what you are getting. I’ve been up and down NJ and just no one else even comes close.

Considering things have changed alot since covid and alot of places have gone out or changed the way they do business, does anyone have any LFS they would like to add or maybe we can revive this thread? I know currently im in a real dry spell for LFS near me in Brick Nj. I usually used Petco in Brick who had abnormally good stock, 88 Pet world who has recently downsized their salt water and increased the fresh water inventory. ACC in ocean who also recently stopped alot of the salt water inventory and switch to shopping by appointment only?!?! I'm in dire need of snails and hermit crabs at the moment and I cannot find a local good spot, I may have to order online or take a long ride which I also don't mind if the store is good. My favorite long distance drive fish store was Hidden Reef in Levittown pa. But they're stock and quality has started to dwindle since covid. Any one have any advice or spots i should check out?

We live in Point Pleasant, so we feel you. We went from one of the best covered areas so not so much. Clean up crew is always tough and most people try and order online but even that has become harder over the years. For corals, check out Ultimate corals in Jackson, Mark is a good guy but I don't know if he carries CUC. Reefco and Aquatic obsessions are probably the closest legit LFS, and they are both roughly an hour away.

Reefco in green brook. Cleanest store you'll ever go to. They have plenty for CUC
Aquatic obsessions (albeit, haven't been since getting back into the hobby recently, but he always had great stuff)

I just went to the hidden reef for the first time a month ago. Picked up a tank. Apparently a place called the fish factory is close to them as well.

I live in Magnolia, South Jersey, about 10 minutes from South Philadelphia.

The Aquarium Center - is my go to place. Hard to get helped at times but the place is super busy all the times. I go there I’d say once a week. Also, I’ve been going there since I was a child and I’m 48. Pretty cool.

Reefhab Romance. It’s inside the Pets Plus in Mays Landing. The owner rents a small room in the back and sells coral and quarantined fish. Also sells up to date dry goods. He’s a good guy and really helpful. He’s got a lot of great coral and fish considering how small the space is. Good prices on coral. I try and stop in every time I’m down that way.

Reefco- Greenbrook. Place is incredible. A smaller retail but they make the most of the space given. They’re coral trays are impressive. I stop in every time I’m up that way. Just don’t get up that way much.

TSM Aquatics Pennsauken- they quarantine fish and they have tons of coral. Not going to get many bargains there but worth a trip. Both the owners are nice guys and make time for their customers. Haven’t lost a fish that I purchased from them.

I'm in Hammonton. Just like Kschweer I've been up and down Nj , Delaware , Boston , Connecticut and New Hampshire to any local fish store. But the ones I frequent
Reefabout in Ventnor ,Nj and
Aquarium Center in Blackwood , NJ
Is Reefabout a retail shop ? I’ve never heard of it and pretty excited to check it out. I feel like there’s a lot more place up north than in South Jersey.

Never heard of Reefabout and Google search was not found.
Looks like the shop closed. I didnt realize that this is a really old thread and the posts talking about Reefabout were from 2016. I was looking forward to checking out a new shop. lol.
