I've never been there and don't even know if they sell livestock, but there is a place on Rt 18 in E. Brunswick that is run by that guy (can't remember his name) originally from Somerville.....I'll see if I can find the name and location and get back to you.

FOUND IT!

Open today from 10-6

It's just south of Sports Authority (maybe a half mile), on the south bound side, in a little strip mall, immediately just past East Brunswick Plumbing Supply. And according to their ad, they do have livestock.

Thanx for the info. I am familiar with the spot, unfortunately I do not like that location because of his poor customer service

His name is howie he used to own Pets pets pets
I've been going there for awhile now his store is more geared to fresh water biput he does have a small saltwater section. As long as you get him with a new shipment he's got good stuff. But his systems are not set up for long term coral care..
I've been dealing with him for many years so he gives me good deals on some things.
I would highly recommend Aquatic Obsessions. Much better selections

I totally agree with agree with you on this. The place is primarily stocked to accomodate fresh water fish.

His freshwater livestock was pretty nice too. There was ciclids, gars, freshwater rays, pirannas and of course your typical live bearers as well as other starter fish. All looked healthy and vibrant

Aside from the salt water livestock, the equipment section was surprisingly well stocked. Sicce pumps as well as other various DC pumps, eco-tech marine items, red Sea tanks as well as various lighting fixtures from T5's to LED just to name a few. And of course the basics, carbon filter socks etc.

Now the livestock section was another thing. Alot of sick and dead fish In the tanks as well as a ton of hair algae and bleaced or bleaching corals. I also felt his prices were a bit on the high end for me on the corals and fish. There is also a seahorse tank in the front which I though was interesting.

I also checked out a Petco in both Piscataway and a petsmart in East Brunswick. Both next to a sports authority. The Petco was disappointing, sick/dead fish In the saltwater section, ick and gha on corals (no surprise there) and petsmart, only fresh water

I did not make it to Wayne yet, maybe next weekend

I wish I saw this sooner in the Wayne are we have Sea Level Aquarium in Pine Brook, great little store and great guys. Then there is Absolutely Fish in Clifton, nice store, but I like Sea Level better.

Sea level is a great place, not the biggest but definitely primo stuff. Absolutely fish I have heard mixed reviews about them but at some point I'll have to make a trip out there

What are the negatives on Absolutely Fish? I heard it was expensive, but being new to the hobby they set my price expectations a little bit. In my experience it is the best aquarium store I have ever been in. Although I grew up in Mississippi so maybe my perspective is limited. I really need to check Sea Level, but I am scared because my 36 gallon all in one has enough frags. I need to watch them grow now and stop buying. Or I need to get a basement system setup going lol

I have heard that they only pay attention to their customers that are looking to spend a ton of money there and that they really do not care about their livestock. But again I would have to see the location for myself before I can pass judgment. Maybe this weekend I'll see if I can make it out there

Weekend they are slammed with customers so I could see them being short and focused on sale. You have to be pretty direct as a customer on the weekend (or they are going to have mad customers who aren't getting to check out or get what they want). They have a ton of people working there, but it is still very crowded. Go on a week night - I have had multiple 30-40 minute conversations with multiple managers and even the owner. I have had them suggest me not buy something many times. I think there livestock is top notch as well. Best I have seen the area but I haven't been to sea level or some of the southern jersey places.

If you go on the weekend make it closer to closing. Go during the week and you can talk to them for an hour if you want.
