Debating here as well with LED or T5 with the new setup.
Saw a 4ft t% halide hybrid on FBM for $50; I am tempted.

I still have my old 400w halide reflector and dimmable ballast. I ran a 20k radium in it. and honestly that beast grew acros like they were on steroids! I plan on eventually using it again if I ever get back into aquaculture. But frags always (for me) colored up better under the leds.

Now that ecotech released the G5 and they moved away from the single puck led.
Orphek light is also very popular so I think maybe kessil will also have a replacement for the AP700 that is not two pucks.

I really like the AP700 so to save money I might take 3 from you.

if they weren’t the dense led like they are now, I wouldn’t want them. you end up with the disco light effect, the reason I didn’t want the other brands....

I dont think kessil will switch over to a flat panel design dense matrix is what they do.

I can't run a tank without T5'S. To me its about the growth. I use LED's but only for the blue on my hybrid

I'm the same way. Everytime I try to move away from T5 I go right back.

I don’t know about y’all. But that Radion addon. From reefbrite has me drooling. The pop their leds give I haven’t seen before even with radions.
Thoughts on those ?

I’m curious what the app will be like for the new kessil. I’d love to see controller integration, but all of these reef companies seem to be moving to a closed ecosystem.

Yeah it should be interesting I am glad they made it backwards compatible with the old system.

But it looks like my kessil controller will be useless.

I also didn’t like that the made people purchase a Wi-Fi dongle and now it’s also useless

I have a set on the way from john at acc, gonna be putting them on the frag tanks radion. Well see how it goes.
