Thanks a lot for the info jerzsky. I contacted the guy again, and he said that if he does provide the 150 , it will be with ballasts for 150 and I would not be able to put 250 without replacing the ballasts.

So for the 20g I would go ahead with just the t5s.

Yes I do use pc lighting right now and would be looking out for petscreens for the acclimatisation. Any ideas where to get them?

Again thanks so much for the advice, I will need to find out how high I can suspend the lights in my current setup.

Even if you swap ballast I thinkl the 150 and 250w bulbs are different sizes so you will need a different de socket as well.

How do I hang the monster ?

OK .. my light fixture came in today. It was anything but plug and play, I had to take the entire thing apart to set it right. And for about the 3 hours I was plugging away without any of the playing !!

I finally got it running under layers of pet screening, and my corals seem to respond really positively :)

Now here's the pickle. It is 30+ lbs that comes with 2 metal chords with one end to screw onto the light and a hook on the other end. Would someone know if there is an attachment to the aquarium, which clips onto the aquarium and lets me hang the light off of it ?

It sounds like you picked up a pendant light that typically “hangs” inside a canopy OR “hangs” on longer cables coming down from the ceiling.

Bingo, and I have no where to hang it from . I wouldn't call it a pendant it is a 250W MH + 4X39W t5 fixture with internal ballasts, so its rather heavy.

I actually got hold of something similar to what I was looking for:

Let me know if there is a similar setup known to someone else.

Bump.

I am looking for something to suspend my light fixture off of. Any ideas for light stands/ hanging arms are welcome. I would rather something that can clips on to the aquarium wall so that I could use it whenever I make a shift to a different aquarium.

As of now my light stand is about 5" above the tank, but in a somewhat precarious position.

Thoughts and/or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks curt .. not much of a DIY guy but I think I have to change that real soon ... :) Good site to keep in mind ..

Thanks again for the info ..
