Light Timers

Hey guys, was looking at purchasing a Galaxyhydro light off of Amazon since they're so cheap and have great reviews online and I was just in a coral store in Hollywood, FL that used them on all their tanks. I didn't ask about if they do it all manually, but I would assume not. So, what timers do you use on your non-wifi lights and can you make it have sunrise/sunsets?

I didn't plan on buying the chinese LEDs but I heard great things about them and as someone who can't get a job the money saved is really awesome as it can go to corals and fish.

I dont have those lights but know a timer will only turn the light on/off. It will not ramp them up/down. If your looking for it just to turn on/off the light then those times above are good.

So I guess I'll have to go with a more expensive light then.. during school I don't have time to slowly turn them up in the mornings and don't want them to suddenly turn on since I've actually had fish freak out and lay in the sand for a half hour from it, granted they were very bright white LEDs.

So if I'm looking for a budget LED light that ramps up/turns down, what would you all reccomend? I don't have a set budget since I suppose I can do what needs to be done but I would really prefer to spend less than $400-ish.
Tank will just be softie/LPS dominated, so I don't need anything crazy.

Edit: Must be LED, needs to cover an area 36"x16". Thanks :)

You can check out this light. I had it when I first started out (only coral I had at the time was some zoas). I ended up going with Kessil lights after going to RAP (2 years ago) and seeing all the tanks there using Kessil

Just make sure you do some research to make sure it will handle your corals

Agree with Tigs, do research!

I had one of those (USAs) when I started, it was good for keeping soft corals alive, that was it.
When I got a few LPS I bought a second one on the cheap and put it over the same tank, it kept the LPS alive, and there was some very mild softie growth.

If I were to do it again I'd go with one of the Chinese manufactured LED's from Galaxyhydro, Aqua Mars, or any of those companies, and put it on a cheap rotary timer as above. All my tanks have at least one or two lights on $2 Ikea rotary timers

If it has 2 power lines and switches - a white/spectrum and blue, go for 2 timers.

I ordered the Galaxyhydro light yesterday since it was only $80 (instead of normal $150) on Amazon. Is there a specific brand timer you would reccomend?
