Lighting question

I am currently running a TEK light 6 bulb (39 watt) light fexture on my 58 gallon tank. I have the light suspended about 6 inches over the glass canopy and think that I may belosing a bit of the light. Do anyone think it would make much of a difference if I lower the light and have it hang an inch or two of the tank?

It might increase your light but without a LUX meter (ideally a PAR meter), it is hard to say how much. You will be heating the tank more by lowering especially since you are using a glass canopy. Keep that in mind. Is there a particular reason why you need to increase the amount of light? Do you have something growing at bottom of tank that appears to not doing so well? My opinion would be to leave well enough alone unless you have a problem that needs to be addressed.

When My t5s are closer to the water they look cooler. new bulbs also help. How old are yours? And what brand are they?

I just put in the following Geiseman bulbs: Pure Actinic, True Blue 15K and a 6000K Midday.

When i had my 6 bulb 54w t5 setup i noticed that the glass tops took away some of the light, so i took them off an dleft them off and my tank looked a lot better
