Hahahaha. I understand where you are coming from. You would think the advantages of LED couldn’t possibly be improved by an old technology. But Even modern cars. Use both technology. There are several manufacturers that use LED for low beam and filiment for high beam. When they are both on you see better than using one or the other. The way we perceive light is different at different spectrums and intensities. Don’t forget that the lights on an aquarium serve two purposes. Coral health and aesthetics

Personally, I didn't have success with the hybrid model. I was using an ATI t5 with reefbrite XHO to supplement. For whatever reason it didn't work for me. I moved everything to my tank with hydras and boom, everything colored up and starting doing better. Can't say it was the lighting because it was a different tank. It just didnt work for me. Plenty have had great success with it though.

I have had all different types of lights. I love the controlability of the LEDs. I know some T5 are dimmable, but I would just use them as a supplement to good LEDs.
