Lights and times

When those of you that run mh and t5 or compacts, do you have t5 or compacts turn off when mh is on or should they all be on when mh is running?

When I had MH and VHO they would all be on at the same time but staggered. So in morning VHO came on first 30mins later MH. At night MH went off first and 30mins later VHO went off. Hope that helps.

That does. I have my first LEDs that came on the coralife fixture on at 8 am then the tube LEDs come on at nine. Two ati blue plus at ten and compacts at 11 then 3 150 mh on at 2:30 till 7 then all goes backward to 9 pm.
Does that sound like a decent time set?

Sounds good to me. I have 3 rules when setting my lights.
1 - Ensure inhabitants are getting enough light to survive.
2 - Ensure not to much light so it doesn't cause algae issues.
3 - The lights are on when I am home to enjoy the tank.

i would have my lower watt led's come on at 6 then have my t5's come on at 7 then my mh come on at 8am and then start going off at 8pm all with a 30 mins random on and off to change it up a little

really? i thought that would be too long for mh. wouldnt that cause algae issues?

no no algae issues at all, but i plan on elminating the mh and low watt leds for a diy led setup which will give me alot more light so i'll have to see what it does with lighting cycles
