I was glad to read that they thought that the lionfish was released because of a hurricane and not some aquarist who didn't want one anymore. Makes you wonder if we should be keeping fish at all when one release can be responsible for so much devastation.
Interesing article. Also noted in the article "caulerpa, a fast-growing form of algae known as "killer seaweed" for its ability to crowd out native plants." I wonder how many people just dump this stuff in the ocean when it starts growing out of control in fuges.
It was a huge problem in California. Even dumping it down the drain it was finding its way to the ocean. They recommend freezing it before you put it in the trash to ensure that it can't survive.
