live rock growth

I have spikes that grow all over my live rock is this normal? what is this how can I prevent it?

probably.. tube worms... mini feather dusters.... and they are good..

Also...look up Vermetid snails.

there are thousands of them and def not feather dusters. Although I do have alot of them growing as well

I'd definitely say Vermetid Snails....I have them as well. They reproduce a lot if they have food...but they will die off as well. But the tubes will always stay.

there very sharp usually cut my hand onthem how can i get rid of them I dont see them on anyone elses tank i know

oh yeah they also grow on my snails shells all these little spikes

Did you figure out what they were?? Are they Vermetid snails?? Sure sounds like they are. I've cut myself on them a lot.

yeah they look like them but mine are purple and covered in coraline. how do i get rid/prevent them

I've been trying to find a solution to them as well. I have not yet found a predator of them. Short of snapping them off one by one, they really will never go away.

They are ether micro FEATHER DUSTERS, SPIONID WORMS or VERMITID SNAILS.
All are harmless and show that you have diversity in your tank, cutting yourself, bad, could lead to reef rash, trust me, wear gloves from now on!

yeah I will have to look at the id when I go home as my work blocks that site. Trust me a few times i got like a scratch puncture from them and they hurt like hell.
