liverock placement

I'll be setting up my tank hopefully sometime this week or the next and wanted to get people's opinions on liverock placement.

Is it okay to have it right against the back wall and kind of make it climb like a mountain or is it better to center the rock and keep the front to back even?

OR Is it good to tapper off maybe a zig zag config of the rock?

I have 2 X MP40W for flow and a Mag 18 for return, but I know rock against the backwall people worry about flow and buildup back there.

after doing against the back and building it up I discovered a lot of dead spots where its hard to clean. I have since opened up areas revealing more sand and a much better flow and am much happier with the results.

I don’t like that Berlin Wall look of piling up against the back wall. As wanabe also pointed out, dead spots. I like the more open look where you take three or four rocks and place them so that are separated and now take a big rock and put it on top of these pillars. Do a couple of these and the fish now have many places to swim in and out of.

After setting up a few tanks i would stay off the glass on the back and sides of tank.cant clean the glass and as said dead spots junk builds up and hard to clean..

+3 on the above leave yourself and your livestock roon to move around and clean you'll appreciate it in a couple months when you go to clean the glass and hove that one spot that you can't get. I wish I would listen to my own advice!

Make sure you leave yourself room on ends and front to clean. I have seen a lot of different ways that look nice. Think it depends a lot on what you like. Make sure you plan it out in advance, cuz while you can change some things around...the big placement is better to leave it alone.
