LOL @ zip codes

Wondering why, when asked their location, the norm is for people to respond with their zip code rather than town name. Is there a reason I’m missing? Does anyone find zip codes more convenient than a town name?

I know for me, a lot of the towns I never heard of lol but by using zip code can see whole area that is local.

It’s easier to write 5 numbers.
No mistakes
I am a realtor so I use zip code to be very specific about location.
For instance some one can say I live in Edison. Edison has 4 zip codes. So if I say 08820 then they now I live in north Edison.

Woodbridge is the same it’s has 13 zip codes with in. So if I say I live I. 07095 that’s Woodbridge proper. While 07001 is avenel.

Agree. Zip much easier. Last item purchased GPS had difficulty locating . Once I put the zip code in popped right up.

The easiest thing for all members is to update the profile signature.
I have my name, zip code and town.
Every post I make will display this information.

Zip or town I'll be Googling it regardless.
True story:
I live on the corner of Bradley Ave.
Had a guy pull up a couple years back ask me if I knew where Chestnut was.
Told him I'd look it up for him, pulled out my phone, typed it in, and realized I lived on the corner of Bradley and Chestnut.
When I told him its right there (3 feet away), he looked at me as if I was a maniac.
