Looking for help identifying this

Very new to having a reef tank, and I’m looking for some help in identifying what is growing on my live rock. I acquired this tank from a friend of mine that has had it running for almost two years. It started out as a couple of “stalk” looking growths on the side of the rock. I have spent the morning trying to look into this and can not come up with a positive id. Unfortunately I have to head to work soon, so if I don’t reply immediately I apologize.

Not completely sure, but it looks like it could be some short of sponge.

Looks like a sponge to me as well.
My Xenia tank has a lot of them, and my main has half a dozen or so.
They come in in multiple places at once looking fuzzy, you may even see some 'blowholes' appearing, then they'll develop a yellow/orange or greenish color.
Harmless filter feeders indicating happy tank growth.
They won't harm other coral, though they may block growth, personally I don't mind, it is what it is.
If you want rid of them, simply pick up the rock they're on and expose them to air for a few minutes, put the rock back and they should be dead in a few days.

Thank you both for the replies. A lot of the searches on google were bringing up results of sponges as well, just where I’m new to this I didn’t want to assume they were harmless. Having some reassurance from people on here helps me a lot, so again thank you both for the help!
