Hey everyone. I'm looking for some opinions on a possible move. I applied for a grant to buy a home and should know very soon if I will receive it. If so things will move very quickly. If I get the grant (will know in 10 days) I will have to use the money within 90 days or loose it which is very fast to buy a home and move. Im looking for opinions on what to do with the tanks. Part of me wants to sell all livestock instead of risking a quick move but at the same time I love my tanks and livestock so I'm lost as to what I should do. Any and all opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

1st buy stock in Rubbermaid. Then take it with you.

Just leave the sand or makes sure to clean it(if you have sand)

Wait till you get the grant then take it down. Moving into a new house is stressful enough. When you are settled set it back up or not. Maybe you will have the room to go bigger :)

I'm taking mine down in the next few weeks. Keeping rock and hardware. Too stressful to try and keep stuff alive.

Thanks everyone. Still going to really think about this. Want to make the best decision for me and for the livestock. Hopefully I make the right one. Hoping to go bigger one of these days rob.

We have moved twice with tanks and it sucks, there is no way to sugar coat that at all. However, with planning it can be done pretty easily. Also, moving over the next few months would be great because it takes weather concerns out of it. I would wait to see if the grant comes through first and then plan. Also, don't leave out the possibility of taking your stuff to someone for safe keeping while you figure it all out. Therefor you can keep it and not stress about it.

Little update on this. Been pretty crazy between work and all the house "stuff." Things are moving forward quickly and it looks like I will be moving on or around September 8th. I'm pretty positive I want to keep everything and move it. Looking for some advice on how to move everything so I can come up with the best plan. I think I may be setting my frag tank up in a friends basement for now so some stuff can fit in there. Also since I'm moving the beginning of the month I have till the end of the month to be totally out of my old house so that helps a little I guess. Any suggestions would be great!

I think you have the best situation possible then. Get yourself a stock tank to hold everything in. Then just move the empty tank and equipment, clean and set it back up. Then just transfer in buckets. Try to keep the rock in water to limit die off, thus limiting a cycle. Your bound to see a small one I'm sure. But once your set up in the new place, Tank, filtration, rock, and sand, the rest should be a breeze, kind of like a big trip to the LFS.

Good point john. I have a little time to get everything I need together so that's a plus too. Thanks for the advice!

Kev. I have a stock tank if you need it. It's been passed around to members. It's 100gal if you need it it's available.

Yeah having time will take the stress out. Also buy some Dr. Tims or something similiar when you move the rock to even further reduce the possibility of a cycle. Also, don't move the sand (if you have any), get a new bed.

I'm hoping the extra time will help. At least I'll be able to make a solid plan and hopefully dedicate a whole day to just moving the tanks. I may also try to place some of the more sensitive or costly stuff to someone for holding until I'm confident everything's where it needs to be.
