I keep something like this in the house for emergencies. I used it 3-4 times last year for 24+ hours and everything survived, but I only had a 47G tank with maybe 37-40G of water volume.

I've heard of people adding H2O2 to the tank as well as it is an oxygenator, but please don't just follow that advice blindly!

You could get a power inverter we picked one up at Rite Aid Pharmacy plug it into your power supply in your car run an extention cord to a powerhead just move the powerhead up to the top of your tank to make bubbles to add oxygen to your water

Getting Air into the water is first prority. Getting water movement 2nd if you don't have a lot of SPS.
Moving a power head to up to pull air is a good way to go. I have the ecotech battery back up for the vortech's. I postioned the pump just under the water level, if the power goes and drains to the sump. This sucks enough air into the water for at least a fw hours under battery power.

2 D batteries and it comes with a little airstone/hose and has kept the fish in my 120 alive. Of course if you overstock your tank then you may want more than one.

Disaster averted. Power was only out for a little over an hour so everything is fine. Thank you for all the suggestions. Now I know a couple of ways to keep things alive if I ever lose power for a long time.
Side note. Maybe we should have a sticky of all the options there are on keeping our livestock alive when there is no power(since now we're in the hurricane zone).

That stated - i was searching for a thread I think Sid (the codfather) started that was a sticky/list of people who had items or could share stuff to help out in the event of a power outtage....like so so has a battery pump to lend out, or has a gas generator, etc.

Sorry to see this. How is your tank stocked? Any idea how your oxygenation typically is?
Well I know the FOWLR should be fine as there is crazy micro bubble all the time. But I'm not sure about the Coral Tank(LPS mostly with 4-5 fish). I did stop home around 10 and get a cup and just scoop and poor for about 10 min. Hopefully everything is ok. I'll let you's know when I get home.
I bought a UPS backup at Best buy and use my controller to turn everything off but a single return pump and 1 power head. Water stays moving and gets oxygen through all the sump components. The battery lasts about an hour, and then i have a generator if that doesn't work. There are more expensive UPS that would last even longer so its really a question of cost.
