Well all the clowns are gone. Just left with the 2 PJ cardinals and damsel.
Not sure what teh cause is as no visible outward signs I can see. Anyway just leaving the fish be for now. I don't want to stress out the corals and have been doing water changes to get the levels normal. Nitrate seems to be the only issue now. I can easily raise the salinity and Alk.

I am using API test kits. This was my own fault; I added seemingly healthy fish to my DT but was wring.

Phil, I feel so bad about your little fishy. I keep hoping it pops out from the rocks but not yet.

Mark, sorry to hear.Im not sure Im following along correctly though. Are the fish showing any signs of anything before they pass on?Cause Im thinking that not that you should keep yr nitrates at 12+ but Ive seen others have and keep fish with nitrates alot higher.

Tony, Normally my Nitrates are lower but not exactly zero. I couldn't get all the dead fish out, just one. I think the other three caused the spike, not to mention I accidentally stirred up the sand trying to see where the others were. The first two to go I bought a few weeks ago and no QT. They looked healthy and were from a very reputable LFS.

Nothing really jumps out to me. My first tank had higher nitrates that I was battling and the fish were fine, so I doubt that's the cause. What type of damsel is it? I'm assuming you've seen no aggresive behavior between any of the fish. Do the remaining fish all look fine? Where the clowns eatting normal the day before they died? Some fish that have mysteriously died, stopped eatting the day before.

mad,
I wouldnt be concerned at all with the 12 ppm of nitrates. fish only tanks are very hardy with that little. if you have corals thats another story. I read your other post and noticed that one thing you saw was that your clown fish did not look right. somekind of slime coat problem. The problem started after you added the new fish correct?
were the new fish the first to go?
if so you probably introduced somekind of bacterial infection into your tank. keep an eye on the other cardinals.
