Hi, looking for best places to buy Dow flakes, Epson salts, etc. I like these aquarium chemical knock offs in bulk sizes. Did some searches but not finding exactly what I want.

Let me know what you find with Dow Flakes....I've never found it locally. Note that Dow also sells their calcium chloride to others for that company to market and sell......I know Panther Industries is one of these companies....but they're Canadian. I've been using Prestone Driveway Heat since 2008....still have the remains of a 50 pound bag.

Epsom salt.....a box at your local drug store will last years.....I'm still on the first box I purchased in 2008. With the mag content of most salts....and assuming you're doing water changes.....you won't have to dose too frequently.

You left out MAG Flakes.....you'll need that too for making the magnesium solution. Again, in 2008 I found that in a hardware store ......a True Value Hardware store in Edison.....a 50 pound bag for under $20.

I just bought my first jug of Prestone Driveway Heat for $8. At 2 cups per gallon I imagine I will have this for awhile. How much bulk do you want to buy?

I bought it at lowes in Barnaget. Yes it was the 9.5 lb jug. Baking soda I was just going to buy the big box at the grocery store.

Apparently after all my reading Preston Driveway Heat is the same exact thing as Kent Turbo Calcium. I bought a small thing of that a few years ago for like $20. I wish I would have known about this.

If you know someone who belongs to one of the "club" stores, you can pick up the 13.5 pound bag of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda for about 6 bucks.....which will make about 12 gallons of Alk solution......dirt cheap!!!!
