Magnets & Frag Racks ; What do you use?

I have a captain salty rack and I have no probs with it. Not as nice as the eshopps ones but I also heard the eshopps don't hold we'll.

I bought magnets from the same place but bought epoxy coated ones then gave them a few dips in plastic dip. Worked very well. The ones you linked will work but if the plastics for dome reason get cut or becomes not waterproof then they may/will rust. Plus the coating includes copper. I would buy the epoxy coated ten dip then yourself. Cheaper too

I use the salts ones and they're great. I disagree and think they're better than eshopps. The eshopps rust after a few months

I think they are better too. I was speaking of looks only. The problem with the eshopps is they use I coated magnets inside acrylic. When/if acrylic cracks, rust.

Oh okay. Seems to always crack for me. I gave up on them

We have a vendor coming to our Frag Swap next month called Acrylic Creations. They make these really cool frag racks that hang on to the top of your tank and are tiered like steps. Basically, the lower tiers are wider and have more rows of plug holes, where as the top row only has 1 row. This way, the upper levels don't block the light from the lower levels. We saw them at the DVRC Frag Swap and they look like good quality made products. They also make custom acrylic tanks too (nice lil frag tanks) but that's not on topic here.

Anyway, Here's their website. or you can also find them on Facebook (facebook.com/acryliccreations).

You could order one and ask them to bring it to the Swap to save on shipping. ;) Or just wait and see one in person at the swap and buy it there. They will custom make you one based on your needs too (height, width, number of levels, even the width of the hanger part.)

I highly recommend them after seeing them in person. No magnets to worry about rusting in the tank!

Kind of explains the rust on the magnets I coated with the plasti-dip. The coated ones they have should be better

Thanks Jim. Now I'm a bit worried about mine after reading this part:

The best strategy is to seal off the magnet somehow from the water. While some of our customers seal off our magnets themselves, either potting them in place or encasing them within their own assembly, our Plastic Coated Magnets are a great off-the-shelf solution.
Plastic Coated Magnets have a layer of injection molded plastic that surrounds them, providing a waterproof seal. Most of these magnets use a 1/32” thick layer of polypropylene plastic.
Do not use our Rubber Coated Magnets underwater. The natural rubber can have tiny pinholes, and may deteriorate over time.
