MAKE IT STOP!

For about 6-7 months now my tank has been running and has always been very noisy but for some reason i recently snapped. I can't bare the noise another minute! it drives me crazy. Between the gurgling of the overflow, the buzzing of the protein skimmer, the trickeling of the water from the protein skimmer, and just EVERYTHING running is driving me insane. my tank is in my bedroom and i can't even get a second of quiet because of how loud the tank is. it's getting to the point where i'm losing interest in the tank because it is driving me so crazy. I really love the hobby but i can't deal with this. What can i do (by the way durso standpipe doesn't work for my tank cause i don't have a bulkhead. i tried placing some filter media over the pipe but it didn't do anything)

its real simple---move the tank to another room..........
then you'll be able to get some , probably, much needed sleep

here are some pictures. the flash did some funky things to the algae so it looks gross, but trust me, it doesn't actually look like that haha.

It looks like if you lower the overflow box thats in the tank a little, you'll get more water flowing threw everything.

What size tank is this on? What is the overflow rated for? What brand skimmer? Skimmer location?

You could try a stockman standpipe or a gurglebuster setup, but I'd like some more details first please.

I second the stockman pipe mod and raise it up so the water dosen't fall to the second compartment. For the return in the sump and the skimmer output try zip tying a plastic bag with the bottom cut out to the pipe. It will help reduce the noise. Place your pumps on a few old mouse pads and plumb them to the sump through vinyl tubing to help reduce the vibration noise. You can also line the inside of the stand with a mattress pad.
