My son and his buddies SWEAR by using tap water in their system. I call them crazy. Here is the rub, they have purple everywhere and could probobly frag a turd and it would split. I use rodi and struggle in the hobby.I tell him that in the long run the tap water will nuke his tank. Anyone else have success with tap? Cause i pump water all day long. opinions please

There are some people that use tap water with great success. It all depends on the quality of your water. Does it have a lot of chlorine or chloramines?? I have a friend that has been in the hobby for 30 years. He uses tap water and runs his tank without a skimmer. You will learn the longer you are in the hobby you do what works for you. If you want to try using tap go for it.

I used tap water for almost 2 years, the SPS ALL did phenomenally great. When I switched to RO/DI, it only got better. Our tap water in Galloway is probably one of the better I've drank. Municipalities and treatment facilities differ from location to location

when I lived in Frazer, PA I used only tap with no issues...moved to Edison, NJ and had to change to ro/di since my tank became a bloody mess! If your son is having success with tap in your house, so should you but...if the water quality fluctuates so will your tank!

I would personally stick with the RODI water. It only takes one mistake at the water company to over dose something or have a bacteria bloom that they are treating or even the disgruntled or hung over employee to change the normal dosage of something and shock a tank!

RODI gives you consistency and piece of mind.
