I was always told you will need to replenish the pod population over time regardless of tank size. I had a few but tried ways to increase pods by adding more rock, pod hotels, macro algae, etc.
I did lax on adding pods and lost the mandarins. I will get another one but will try to culture my own pods in a separate container an add them over time.

I have had a spotted mandarin in a 65g, then moved to a 50g frag tank. I have not added pods in years.

While yes they will hunt all day, pods reproduce fairly quick so if its a well established tank it shouldn't require adding more.

I’m going to eventually add more pods but I’m tying to also feed with baby brine and plankton maybe he’ll eat all

I've had my mandarin along with like 8 wrasses for over a year now. He will be fine. Survival instincts will kick in hahaha.

I've had a couple, they both eventually ate pellets, I think they figure it out. 200 gallons is probably big enough to sustain 2
Eventually I’m planning to get a hawk fish and maybe a cleaner wrasse so I’ll prob add another mandarin depending how this one does

Had a spotted in a smaller tank, 40g. I dropped in a pod pack every 2 months or so to top up population and it survived for about 5-6 years.
